Welcome to Avli

A little bit of Greece in your own backyard

Our Story

Avli originated in 2017 as it was a dream of my father, Kiriakos (Kerry) Tsaparopoulos. My father has been a business owner in the Penrith area for over 35 years and throughout all these years his passion laid in food. Finally, it was decided that we would establish an authentic Greek restaurant in Penrith.

Avli is renowned for its truly distinct and unique venue. A heritage and historic church refurbished into an architectural restaurant ensuring that the warm ambiance of Greece is captured.

The word Avli derives from Greece and means ‘The Backyard’. Here at Avli we strive to produce flavoursome traditional Greek food using only the best quality Greek ingredients and local fresh produce. Our food is prepared onsite daily by our executive chef and talented team of staff.

Meet our executive chef, Dimitris Rigas. Dimitris was born Athens and has been a chef for 30 years. Dimitris has worked as an international chef in countries such as; Greece, France and Italy specialising in traditional Greek cuisine and seafood. Dimitris has had the privilege to be the personal chef for the Greek Prime Minister, German chancellor, the European Parliament president and the Greek national football team.

At Avli we have a large selection of both national and international, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including a cellar selection. Avli specialise in traditional Greek Aperitifs, Ouzo and Tsipouro, the nectar of the gods, be sure to check out Kerry’s Ouzo Bar.

We invite you to visit us for a true Epicurean Journey. We look forward to seeing you. Your hosts – Sophia Tsaparopoulos and Kiriakos Tsaparopoulos

Our Menu

Here at Avli, we serve traditional Greek food using recipes past down by our ancestors with quality Greek ingredients and local fresh produce. Extra virgin olive oil is the final touch added to all of our dishes to offer the authenticity of Greek cuisine. Our menu is designed to be enjoyed by either an al la carte style or by the traditional way of meze.
